Scouts (10½ –14 years)

Throughout the year, our Scouts take part in a Balanced Programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop their creative talents. Scouting also provides opportunities for young people to explore their own values and personal attitudes.

Our Scout Troop consists of small teams of six to eight Scouts called a Patrol, led by a Patrol Leader. We meet around 48 weeks each year, the Scout meeting offers opportunities to develop various skills, such as map reading, camp cooking and first aid in preparation for the camping and outdoor activities that feature prominently in our programme.

Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities. The emphasis is on taking part and there are a number of badges and awards Scouts can work towards to recognise their commitment and achievements. Challenge Awards lead to the top award - the Chief Scout’s Gold Award. Completing this shows genuine commitment and achievement. We also have an extensive range of Activity Badges and other awards.

Our Scouts have regular weekend camps and we offer a Summer Camp every year. This is usually in the UK,  but we also offer the chance to take part in international travel and many of our Scouts have been on camps abroad - including Florida, South of France, Paris and Switzerland. In 2015 many were on an exciting Group adventure trip to Italy and Germany, in 2017 they were able to once again camp in Florida for two weeks with hundreds of American Scouts and visit some top theme parks in Orlando. 2018 saw our Scouts in South of France and Italy doing some amazing outdoor activities.
